Yea! A recovery week.
Last week was brutal. Just over 15 hours. It was great to get outdoors for some bike rides and all of my runs, but each discipline was longer than the previous two weeks. I have relegated my body aches and pains to old age, and not to serious orthopedic problems. They(the pains) hang with me like an unwanted parasite, but like a good parasite, never seeming to finish me off! My friend had his chain break in two places, and this allowed me to see how to splice a chain back together and still finish a ride. Today I swam for 45 mins at a good pace, then ran for 120mins on some of the marathon course. I was very tired, and is hard to believe that I would have to run another 14 miles for a full marathon.
I am hoping to buy a wetsuit with our tax refund. With our air temperatures being a little lower than normal, the USGS reports that this should be cold water temperature summer.
Spring break is here for the kids. One is already in Phoenix with family. The others will be leaving for Yellowstone later in the week. I have promised my son I would build him a tree fort so I am taking a two days off work and training to get the first stage done.
This week I will only be training for 8 hours and this should allow my sore muscles to heal up. After that the next 4 weeks will ramp up the hours progressively each week.
More later!
